Diet fads

A common body practice that is used by both men and women would have to be dieting. Many people think that a diet means only eating heathy foods like fruits and vegetables but thats not the case. There are many forms of diets and we are all on a diet at this very moment. Every thing that you ingest is part of your daily diet. We don't think that we're on a diet everyday of our lives because we don't always eat healthy everyday of our lives but we indeed are on diets, they just may not be healthy ones.
What I find most amusing about dieting though is that there are so many fad diets and I'm curious to find out if they actually work or not. We've all heard of the Atkins diet or the Southwest diet but what do these diets actually have people eating and are they actually effective? I did a little bit of research and here is what I found. The Atkins diet uses the idea that by eating less carbs, we can control our metabolism and control the way our bodies handle fat. So at the fast food window technically you can order a double bacon cheeseburger without the bun. By eating less carbs our bodies are forced to burn fat to use as fuel instead of burning carbs. Research has found that though this low carb intake diet gives results at first, it is short lived. Over time one's weight will balance back out therefore not really working.
These diet fads have so many people tricked into thinking that they really work when a healthy diet should actually just consist of smaller portion sizes that include all of our required nutrients (protein, fiber, carbs etc.) Also a crucial thing to consider is that diets work most effectively if the dieter also engages in regular exercise. These are the most important factors into achieving the docile bodies that the media portrays to be ideal.
