How images change

As we start to think about what has happened to our country, and the people that we "look up to" and follow (i.e. celebrities) we find that everything we are looking at is the image of a person. As we see these people, we try to associate ourselves with them. A docile body is a body is a body that is shaped by social norms and cultural life. We look at these bodies and try to find ways to make our bodies more like them. If this is because of the ways that we dress, act, or talk, we are constantly becoming more like them.

Why do we look up to these people? Is it because we shaped them through our societal and cultural differences and changes? Or is it just because they are in a position of power, and we just see them. The docile bodies have changed over time. When my parents were kids, one major celebrity that they looked up to was Clint Eastwood, as in the movies "Dirty Harry." Today the bodies that we look at are very, very different. We try to be like the people from Jersey Shore, and other shows we see on television.

Another major change that has happened has been the culture that these images have been the culture that these movies have been shown in. The culture of the early 70's when the movie "Dirty Harry" came out was one of a distrustful government, shown in this movie. Today many people feel the same, but for many different reasons. As we are fighting a war that many think we should never have thought. The culture of today is also based off of many movies that people are thinking of. Today we are basing our culture on the words and images that people see, instead of the world around us.

  1. I feel that many people in today's society "look up" and want to look like the celebrities mainly because of their position of power. But more than that, if people get "that look" that they are shooting for, they may feel like they are superior to other people, and have that position of power over those who don't have the look.
