BP Spills Coffee

BP Spills Coffee

The whole BP situation happened a while ago, and the talk about it has gone down dramatically since. I found this video that makes fun of how BP had the giant oil spill in the gulf, and how they seemed to deal with all of the issues. The video imitates the spill through coffee, and the multiple failed processes that BP went through in order to attempt to contain and stop the oil spill. The position that UCBComedy (the makers of this video) takes on the BP story is quite clear that they are not in favor of how BP dealt with the spill as a whole. UCBComedy makes it seem like every move BP made was a bad decision, and then they tried to put the blame on others. They are making a statement to the public that BP made some major mistakes in the attempt to fix the problem, and that BP was failing miserably with each new idea. The signs through which UCBComedy communicates with the audience make this fiasco seem comical because of the methods that the people try to clean up the coffee spill. Some of the cultural opinions behind UCBComedy can be seen through the ways that they degrade BP through their hard times. One is also able to see that they are not fond or accepting of large mistakes, which is shown throughout the video. They also have a comical aspect of their culture shown in the comparison of the oil spill to a coffee spill and some of the tactics they used to control the coffee on the desk.
